Travel arrangements are left up to our visitors and are quite straightforward and we have highlighted some of the most popular ways to get there with specific links to help make your arrangements. Driving- France has a very good road system and it appears to us that they cater more for the 'long distance' traveller. The Autoroutes, although mainly toll roads, are very quick and usually less congested than the UK and with a higher speed limit, you can make good progress. There are also ample rest areas and fuel stops that also allow you to take your time if necesary. Our French Farmhouse is approx 500 miles from Calais and on average will take about 9 hours travelling using the Autoroutes. This is extended if you decide to use the 'N' or Route Nationalle -equivalent to our 'A' roads. Cheap hotels near every motorway exit in many towns include (cheapest first): Formule 1, Ibis, Premier Classe, Campanile. Prices per room range from £20 to £50 incB&B. Always clean, mostly en suite, friendly and Campanile food is great. Below are road directions from Calais to Riberac with specific diections from Riberac to our farmhouse that we send with your booking confirmation. NB This does not show all motorways and should be used as a reference only. The 'A28' is not shown as it has just been opened but streches from Rouen via Le mans to Tours.
DIRECTIONS -Channel Ports via Paris- Come into Paris via Charles De Gaulle airport and pick up the blue motorway directions to "Bordeaux" and literally keep following these all round Paris. They will change as you skirt round the city still showing Bordeaux, but they will indicate "A10" which is where you are aiming for. When you go on to the A10 you want to follow "Chartres-Orleans" but following the "Orleans" direction which continues as the "A10" whereas "Chartres" continues as the "A11" Stay on the "A10" going through Blois and Tours towards Poitiers and exit at junction 30 which leads you directly on to the "N10" and head for Angouleme. This is a quick road with lots of dual carriageways and you will come into Angouleme.* Head into the centre looking for a turning left signed "Soyaux / Perigueux D939". This will take you through the town onto the D939 and head for Rochebeaucourt-et-Argentinewhere you pick up the D708 on your right signed Verteillac/Riberac and continue to the outskirts of Riberac. We are happy to forward directions from other locations if needed.	-Channel Ports via Rouen- This is probably an easier route now that the A28 motorway is now fully open through to Tours. From Calais take the A16 signed to Boulogne/Abbeville. Exit at Jnc 23 which leads to the A28 which will be signed "Rouen" and continue to Rouen itself. On the outskirts of Rouen the motorway ends and you must cross Rouen following the Alencon/Le Mans signs. Join the A13 heading north for Le Havre and Caen and then you pick up the A28 motorway again heading for Alencon/Le Mans. Continue on the A28 which ends just north of Tours at the A10. Take the A10 south towards Poitiers and exit at junction 30 which leads you directly on to the N10 and head for Angouleme. *Continue with the directions as opposite
